Poor service, and they ripped me off

I recently took my car to for an inspection, and I had a mixed experience. On the positive side, the front service was nice and welcoming. However, I encountered an issues that left me dissatisfied. Before the inspection, I had my car checked by my mechanic to ensure it was ready to pass, as I was planning to go out of town that Friday. The inspection was supposed to take under an hour, but I ended up waiting much longer. The main issue arose when they failed my car for a "loose" tire rods. The next day, I took my car back to my mechanic, and he replaced all four tire rods. He mentioned that while there was a little give, it seemed they were being overly picky. I think they were trying to upsell their repair services. (Who cares about a $30 inspection fee when you can upsell services you wouldn’t have normally come in for.) Usually, I go to a quick service place for my inspections and I'm in and out in 15 minutes. I wanted to share my experience so others can be aware and make an informed decision.

Dear Deivaxis One, thank you for your detailed feedback. We're glad to hear that our front service team provided a positive experience. We sincerely apologize for the extended wait time and the issues with the tire rods. We never aim to upsell unnecessary services and appreciate you bringing this to our attention. We understand your frustration and will use your comments to improve our processes and ensure a more efficient and transparent inspection experience for all our customers.

Sister had them come get her car since it wouldn't start. Once they got it they tried pumping the bill up with all kinds on extras when all she needed was the battery replaced. Finally had to call them and argue about the bill. They tried to charge her over $400 to replace the battery in a Honda CRV. Finally got them to remove the "diagnostic fee" they were trying to charge her on top of the labor to install an overpriced battery to begun with. If my 85 yo Sister hadn't called me they would have ripped her off. Bad enough she had to pay over $285 for a battery that Advance Auto would have put in for free for half the price. They need to be ashamed of themselves for trying to take advantage of an older woman.

Woodie's take care of my car without an appointment as I blow a tire right close to their location. The manager was so nice. He got the right tire from the warehouse, fix my car with 2 hours!!! Thank you Woodie

My first time at Woodies Huntersville and will definitely be going back! Corey was very helpful, knowledgeable and kept me informed as to the status of my car. The facility is clean and appreciate being able to watch the mechanics.

I went to Woodie's seeking a new 'local' mechanic rather than rely on the chain shops and their ever-rotating staff. I stopped at this location in person asked for an estimate to do a front-end only wheel alignment. There is NO adjustment possible in the rear end of my car (a 2005-2014 Mustang). This simple job requires driving the car on a 4-post lift, attaching a reflector to each wheel, clicking a few buttons on the alignment machine/computer, then loosening and adjusting the camber and toe adjustment bolts until the machine reads 'in the green'. Crank everything back down and you're done. Because there is no adjustability in the rear, only the front suspension can be adjusted. This process should take an experienced technician no more than 30 minutes. Not only was the guy at the counter seemingly annoyed that I showed up in person to make this estimate request, he quoted me a figure of $154.00 to do it. Basically a 'eff-you, get out of here' estimate - which was especially irritating because all of the chain stores I was trying to avoid were charging $100.00 for the same job. He also didn't want to hear anything about 2-wheel vs. 4-wheel alignments - they 'always charge for 4'. Guess what? That means that nearly every SINGLE pickup truck Woodie's 'aligns' or ever has aligned is getting a 2-wheel alignment, but Woodie's is charging you for 4. Nice business model, you have there. Based on the other reviews I'm reading, this seems to be standard operating procedure for Woodie's - overcharging and taking advantage of people unfamiliar with cars. I don't fall in either category and will advise anyone who asks to avoid this location.

Been going to Woody’s for about a year now for routine maintenance like oil changes, etc… the first few times the service was great with no issues, then over the last 6 months or so the quality of work has declined. They have forgotten to reset my mileage after the oil change the last few times. My most recent experience will be my last, I needed 4 new tires and paid over $1,000 to have them put them on and do an alignment. After I paid I went out to my car to find no valve caps on my new tires. Just a very simple oversight that shows their lack of attention to detail. After reading other reviews it seems like this is becoming a trend. Will do my service elsewhere from now on.
